#119. I Hosted a Collegiate Rocket League Tournament: Here’s What I’ve Learned.
Welcome to FGC Philosophy! In this episode, Tavian "The Philosopher" Napier discusses his recent experience organizing a Rocket League Invitational Collegiate tournament. He shares some of the key takeaways he learned from the planning and leading up to the event, marketing, expenses, budgeting, and communication with staff and other teams. Tavian also highlights the importance of clear communication with staff and setting boundaries when accommodating other teams.
Tavian shares how budgeting was not his strongest suit, but through the experience of hosting the event, he learned the importance of budgeting and how it helped him visualize where the money was going and how much money he was generating from the event. He also talks about the production and how he and his team did well, but there were areas they could still improve upon. Finally, Tavian talks about the results of the tournament and how it was great to see some diversity in the teams participating, and he is excited to keep working on future events.
